BALMORAL HOUSE MOSMAN - SYDNEY
- AUSTRALIA
This
older home had been subject to many earlier different extensions
and additions over time.
The
minimal program was to integrate an existing adjoining seating
room as part of the master bedroom space. Although the commission
was small, the client desired to achieve a fine decorative look
that was special and inviting. In order to keep consistency
with the old character of the house, all the traditional features
such as skirting, architraves and cornices were maintained.
However
the new added elements including the joinery of square and simple
lines resulted in creating a more contemporary look inside the
traditional shell. The final result exceeded the original expectations
of just a simple renovation, due to the client taking a profound
involvement throughout the whole design and construction process;
which included constantly participating in the selection of
materials, accessories, lighting and decoration.
