SLOOPE ROAD HOUSE - LO BARNECHEA
- SANTIAGO
The challenge of this work,
which is located on a site with a strong inclination of more
than 11 meters, was to design a home that would take advantage
of the magnificent view of the La Dehesa Valley, without sacrificing
the garden for a driveway as in the case of the neighbours.
To achieve this, the access
and vehicle parking were located at street level, below the
pool and main garden. Access to a naturally lighted entry patio
by guests is reached by ascending underneath the home. Careful
consideration was made to position the house to achieve an idealized
view of the valley using the garden and pool to obscure the
street below.
A rectangular metal structure,
which is lightly suspended from the garden, frames the home.
It achieves several important functions, including shade as
well as an impression of lightness and obscures unwanted lateral
views. The double and triple height interior spaces are connected
by stairs as well a bridge with views overlooking the gardens
